I realise that the past month has made my life seem quite jetset. But as soon as Hugh leaves for Harvard I will be going into hibernation until spring, curled up under blankets reading and writing. But before I retire for the cold months, Hugh treated me to a trip to Amsterdam as a belated birthday/Christmas gift. As I tweeted while abroad, I feel as though if I had visited Amsterdam two years ago I would have had a very different experience. But as it was, I wouldn't change a thing. Returning to England was quite difficult due to the snow...but despite the flight and train delays, the snow does look quite pretty.

| Our beautiful room with a canal view at Hotel Estherea |
| Hugh looking dapper as we see the sights. I particularly loved the snowy mane of the lion in Dam Square. |
| Some canal... |
| Erm...might be an old palace or government building? Obviously I am a very skilled tourist. |
| Hugh, a canal, and a lamp post. These captions are very necessary, I know. |
| Drinking a Heineken at The Bulldog in the Red Light District. Hugh and I ended up in a heated debate about the myth of equal opportunity offered by American public schools compared to the educational systems in various European countries. And no, we were not high. Sometimes we just do stuff like that. |
| Some swans basking in the pretty reflections of the Red Light District. |
| We look quite cute, if I do say so myself. |
| ...not so cute here, more like an awkward girl unaware that her companion is actually a murderer |
| The full view of the canal. A random Dutchman passing by offered to take our picture and was unbelievably friendly. I'm definitely a fan of the Dutch. |
| A snowy Shamley Green. Much prettier than snowy London. |
I think niveous London is quite pretty.
