I have a paper to write and so naturally here I am writing a blog post. Actually, I have two papers to write for this week, a midterm to study for, another paper that I should start on before spring break, and transfer applications to finish up. This week is going to be deadly.
This weekend was Gym Meet weekend back in the NDP universe. I lived inside the NDP universe for 4 years (longer if you count the 4 years I was on the periphery as Callie went through the school). It is a lovely place. Yes, sometimes I couldn't wait to break free but now that I am in the real worl I can look back on my time inside the bubble and see that it really wasn't all that bad. In fact, it was a lot of fun. And there's nothing like Gym Meet to remind me of all the great things about the NDP world.
On this day, exactly a year ago, I was recovering from the most epic night of my life. First, Gym Meet itself and the mania following our victory. Then, we embarked on the greatest adventure of my life. 6 girls in 1 car escorting 3 plaques and 1 silver cup to 10 parties all in 1 night.
We got back to my house at 8 AM and were still too excited to go to sleep. We crashed at 9 and slept until 4 in the afternoon.
Now that I'm in college I've pulled many an all-nighter but I don't think any will top Gym Meet 2009. taking shots off the plaque and drinking God-know-what out of the silver cup. Driving probably about a hundred miles back and forth across the state of maryland while singing Celene Dion at the top of our lungs. Celebrating with every girl in our graduating class and loving every minute of it.
I'm glad that I'll never have another Gym Meet because nothing could come close to that night. It won't stand up the test of time and remain one of the best nights of my life (I hope my life will be more exciting than winning the Silver Cup in high school) but it will definitely always remain the greatest night of my high school years.
High school wasn't the best years of my life. There were some rough times but at least I can look back on that night and remember just how much fun I had with some of the most amazing girls I will ever meet.
I'll be back in Baltimore in 5 days. My life here at college is definitely improving but I still can't wait to go home.
3 Good Things
1. My new bright blue nail polish.
2. Finding the people who make life at a college you don't like not just bearable but actually fun.
3. Cupcakes.
