BEDA Day 15: I Want To Be a Cowboy and No, I Didn't Miss Yesterday

I just didn't post it here. It was about how I am a freak.

Yesterday I was having a pretty sucky night. I found out that I can no longer go to my top choice college because they are rescinding my financial aid and I can't afford to go there anymore. I was, and still am, very upset and just hating my life. Then, I turned on the TV and one of my all time favorite movies was on ACM - The Man from Snowy River.

It reminded me that, I don't want to go to college. I want to be a cowboy.

That video is just about the coolest scene from any movie ever in my opinion. Jim Craig is my hero.
[Clarification: I want to be an Australian cowboy because I don't ride Western so I couldn't be an American cowboy. Also, Australia is cooler than America]

What's not to love about this movie? It has everything I love in a movie and then some: HORSES, Australia, feuding brothers, gold rush, love story, good piano music, feminist struggle, and Jim Craig (played by Tom Burlinson). That scene above is just icing on the cake.

This movie came out in 1982, the year before my parents were married. They saw it together as one of their first dates and it's still one of their favorite movies. It was always one of those movies we watched as a family when I was growing up. The boys liked it because of the action and the girls just loved the horses and the love story.

After watching this movie, I want to go outside and ride. And none of that prissy dressage and show jumping and ring work like I normally do. I want to really ride, out in the open countryside, galloping as fast as the wind. Just me, my horse, and the open land.

I want to be a cowboy.

P.S. Yes, I know it's against my feminist principles to say cowboy instead of cowgirl but it's only for dramatic effect. Also, I really do want to be Jim Craig specifically so then I would be a boy.
