As I've noted before, normally I don't record my day-to-day activities in the blog. I don't do this for several reasons: 1. It's probably not very interested to people removed from my daily activities, 2. I can't be bothered to try and make my daily life sound interesting, and 3. Generally, nothing exciting happens.
But today I am going to make an exception. I am making this exception because I had an exceptional day. So, today's entry may not be particularly exciting. But it'll be more traditional, kind of like a journal.
As I've mentioned several times and in yesterday's blog specifically, my life has not been very happy lately. I've basically been feeling horrible about just about everything because a lot of bad things have just piled up. Not to be whiny but as I am recounting my day I will sum up all my life's suckiness in a nut shell:
- I've been miserably sick for two weeks straight
- can't go to the college I love because of money issues
- general stress from school and AP exams coming up
- general unhappiness from having my brother/best friend five hours away at college
and to top it all off
- my prom date informed me Tuesday night that he has to go to North Carolina and can't come to prom anymore (prom is on Friday...as in two days from now and my date just bailed).*
I've been miserable. Today was my first day back at school and I missed a lot of work in my classes, which was just adding to the day's general suckiness. But once I got to school my luck started to change: it was Student Appreciation Day and Spirit Day (we got out of class early and got free popsicles!).
Then, after homeroom, I found all of my best friends waiting in the hallway for me. They had noticed that I had been having a rough time lately and decided to cheer me up. Today, they said, was the Official Glass Half Full and Cheer Up Rosalee** Day meant to help me look at life as Half Full as opposed to Half Empty.
They had all made cards, someone baked cookies, Molly made me a mix CD, and as a gift they decorated two glasses half filled with candy.
This was probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. I love my friends! Of course I started crying in the middle of the hallway. It's amazing how some cookies seriously made my day.
Here is Molly's Glass Half Full Album:
1. Don't Panic - Coldplay
2. Friday, I'm in Love - Dryden Mitchell
3. 2th Ave. Shuffle - Foxboro Hottubs
4. Don't Worry - Goo Goo Dolls
5. Tick Tick Boom - The Hives
6. Creeps Me Out - I'm a Robot
7. Float On - Modest Mouse
8. I am the Walrus - Oingo Boingo (Molly informed me that although generally against covers of the Beatles, this one is really good)
9. Out Time Now - Plain White T's
10. Bad Day - REM
11. Change - Taylor Swift
12. Island in the Sun - Weezer
13. You've Got a Friend - Randy Newman
[Yes, Plain White T's, Taylor Swift, and Goo Goo Dolls - they're happy, upbeat songs!]
*I go to an all girls school so we have to ask outside dates, normally from the all boys school on the other side of town. However, since it's so late most guys are already going to either my prom or to the other prom for another all girls school in town that is on the same night.
**You'll realize that it's Cheer Up Rosalee Day. That is because my first name is Rosalee. Pippa is my nickname that comes from my last name. I use both fairly equally. Some people call me Rosalee, some people call me Pip/Pippa, and some people call me Bee.
