BEDA Day 8: Shake Your Whammy Fanny

I am watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch on TV right now. I love this show and I don't care who knows it.

Also, I'm on SPRING BREAK!

Back to Sabrina. I love this show! But I especially love the 90's goodness of it all. It's not just the fashion. This particular episode was about a school dance.

First, I love how in this episode, I think from the first season, Sabrina's best friend is a burgeoning feminist. She decides to go to the dance by herself to reject society's idea that a woman always needs to have a man. Maybe this is where I got my beginnings as a feminist. I certainly didn't get it from my mother.

Second, were school dances really ever like this? I doubt it. The lights on, everyone holding punch, the music is barely audible. The worst part is the dancing. They're standing like three feet apart.

Our school dances are nothing like that. And I go to a Catholic school.
[Interjection: OMG there was just a scene where they walked into a classroom and everyone was dancing together just for fun before starting class. Is that what school was like in the 90's? They also just referenced the Macarena and it was topical!]

Sabrina says she misses the 90s! Woohoo!

[Insert Segue]Now that it is 2009, though, that means one thing - Graduation! I only have 20 more days of high school left!
