Every group has one.

This morning, as I was leaving the house to go to my hair appointment my grandmother stopped me, frazzled. "Rosalee, what happened to your car?" she asked. I looked out the window to the driveway, imagining it wrecked and somehow having to explain to my parents that I didn't do it. But it was completely intact, just a little more interesting to look at.

My friends had tagged my car during the night. It's one of our longstanding prank traditions. Now I get the joy of riding around in the car with phrases that to strangers appears to be nonsense written on the windows. My favorite is on the windshield. It says, "You're a wizard, Harry."

Needless to say, I got some strange looks while driving around town today. But in an odd way it just reminds me how much I love my friends. We're just like every other group of friends. We have inside jokes no one else understands but we find hilarious. We are loud and obnoxious when we're all together in a group. We have the prankster, the ginger, the mom, the brain, the planner, the rebel, the slut, the busy one, the mature one, the pretty one, the fashionable one, the quiet one, the gay best friend (who isn't really gay but he always hangs out with 8 girls so it's still pretty accurate).

It wasn't until I went to college that I realized how lucky I am. Most people have one or two best friends from high school. And I do have my two Best Friends. And I have my 3 Best Friends from Syracuse. But I also have this very close group of friends from high school with whom I am still just as close as ever. And even more unusual is it's a group of 8 girls (and 1 guy). And maybe one or two of us will drift away but I truly think we have a solid core.

Now, I am devising the best way to prank Fitz back tomorrow at the field party. It will be epic.
